About National Fellowships
At the Office of National Fellowships, we are eager to assist all Texas A&M students with the National Fellowships process. We also have awards that we emphasize in terms of our facilitation. We distinguish between two types of awards, namely, CORE Awards and Non-CORE Awards.
CORE Awards
CORE Awards are National Fellowships that require a campus nomination. For these awards, students need to apply through our internal campus process. These are awards that involve things like campus deadlines and review committees.
The Astronaut Scholarship is a prestigious, merit-based award provided by the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation (ASF) to undergraduate juniors and seniors pursuing STEM degrees who show exceptional performance, innovation, and research potential.
The Boren Scholarship provides unique funding for U.S. students to study less commonly taught languages in world regions critical to national security. This program empowers Aggies to build global expertise and prepares them for impactful careers in federal public service.

The James C. Gaither Junior Fellows Program is a prestigious one-year, full-time paid fellowship at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington, D.C., for graduating seniors or recent alumni interested in international affairs.
The Gilman Scholarship provides for undergraduate students with high financial need to study or intern abroad. This Department of State program equips Aggies with the global skills and international networks necessary for success in a competitive global economy.
The Marshall Scholarship is a prestigious, highly competitive, UK government-funded program for U.S. citizens to pursue graduate studies in any field at any university in the United Kingdom for one to three years.

The McCall-MacBain Scholars program funds graduate study at McGill University in Montreal, Canada. Scholars receive full tuition and fees for a master's or professional degree while participating in leadership development training.
The SMART Scholarship program is a merit-based scholarship for STEM majors at the undergraduate and graduate levels. SMART is an education and workforce development program, providing its awardees with exclusive internships and a guaranteed position with the U.S. Department of War after graduation.

Non-CORE Awards
Non-CORE Awards are National Fellowships that do not require a campus nomination. Students have the ability to apply to these awards independently. Some examples of Non-CORE Awards are:
Launch a distinguished career in diplomacy with the Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship. This program provides Aggies with extensive financial support for master’s degrees, mentored internships, and a guaranteed appointment as a Foreign Service Officer representing the U.S. Department of State worldwide.
Immerse yourself in Omani culture with the SALAM Study Abroad Program. This fully funded scholarship from the Sultan Qaboos Cultural Center offers Aggies intensive Arabic language training and unique diplomatic insights in the heart of the Middle East.
Elevate your global perspective with the Yenching Academy of Peking University fellowship. This fully funded Master’s program in China Studies invites Aggies to Beijing for interdisciplinary learning, elite mentorship, and intensive cultural immersion at one of the world's leading research universities.
Schwarzman Scholars is a fully-funded, one-year master’s degree and leadership program at Tsinghua University in Beijing, China. At the heart of the program are world-renowned advisers, a rigorous and innovative study of global affairs, and hands-on exploration of Chinese culture and commerce.
Each year, the Hertog Foundation brings top college students to the nation’s capital to explore the theory and practice of politics in an intensive seminar setting with outstanding faculty.
The Amgen Scholars Program provides hundreds of selected undergraduate students with the opportunity to engage in a hands-on research experience at many of the world's leading educational institutions. The program seeks to increase learning and networking opportunities for students committed to pursuing science or engineering careers.
The Hertz Fellowship is awarded to doctoral students in applied science, engineering, and mathematics. It is administered by the Hertz Foundation, which is dedicated to innovation in science and technology.
The National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship Program (GRFP) is the country’s oldest fellowship program that directly supports graduate students in various STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) fields.
The Luce Scholars Program provides immersive professional experiences in Asia. The program strives to strengthen relationships between the U.S. and Asia by affording scholars the chance to learn about Asia's countries, cultures, and people. This year-long immersive experience trains participants to be global citizens and leaders.
The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans program honors the contributions of immigrants and children of immigrants to the United States. Each year, they invest in the graduate education of 30 New Americans—immigrants and children of immigrants—who are poised to make significant contributions to US society, culture or their academic field.
